Hotel De Russie takes guests on a ‘holy’ gastronomic journey
Lunch at the Pope’s farm? Guests can do that and more.  Hotel de Russie, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Rome, kicks off the summer season with exciting new experiences, among them one that indulges foodies and Vatican buffs alike.
When staying in one of the luxurious suites at the famed Roman hotel, guests will be able to immerse themselves in an exceptional sector of Roman gastronomy with a full-day visit to the Pope’s estate and organic farm at Castel Gandolfo.  Crafted by Hotel De Russie’s experts in cultural experiences, this is no ordinary papal visit.
A chauffeur will whisk guests off to La Fattoria delle Ville Pontificie to explore the dairy and vegetable gardens and wander among free-roaming animals.  The culinary venture starts with a tasting of home-grown produce, delivered daily to the Papal Villas of the Vatican.  On the menu will be the finest olive oils, wine and cheese. The outing continues with a hands-on cooking class to learn how to make fresh pasta and whip up a local dessert.
Enjoy a delicious lunch on the farm, followed by the tour of the Papal Palace. To end the day, guests will be ushered back for a leisurely evening in the legendary garden of Hotel De Russie.
The Castel Gandolfo papal food experience includes:
