Each year The Charles Hotel looks forward to the festive season, and this year will be the best yet with Baccarat as their partner to celebrate the most joyful time of the year.
December at The Charles Hotel, Munich
Counting down to Christmas: advent is a busy time in Munich – particularly at the numerous Christmas markets. The locals have created the endearing term “Christkindlmärkte” (“baby Jesus markets”) because in Germany baby Jesus brings the presents on Christmas Eve. Situated in the heart of the Bavarian state capital, The Charles Hotel is the ideal starting point for a tour through the markets with their many delicious treats. The Concierge Team has put together its own pocket-sized “Christkindlmarkt” guide with many unusual recommendations and insider tips for the guests.
The 5-star hotel, named after Sir Rocco Forte’s father – the renowned hotelier Charles Forte – boasts the most spacious rooms in the city, an exciting range of culinary offerings in Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar and a modern spa with a 15 x 8 metre indoor pool. It is the ideal base for a Christmas city break or to welcome in the new year on New Year’s Eve.
A Classic Room for 2 people including Baccarat Afternoon Tea and breakfast costs from €499. In addition, guests can expect a small culinary surprise in their room and a high-quality Baccarat notebook in the typical Baccarat red that is created when the clear liquid crystal is mixed with 24 carat gold dust. The Concierge Team will personally hand over their specially created “Christkindlmarkt” guide and give individual tips for the perfect Christmas experience in Munich.

Velvety soft fabrics, dark wooden shelves with literary classics and modern photos of famous authors by Axel Crieger on the walls make the library a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle during the cold season. A large selection of hand-picked Ronnefeldt teas served in exquisite Baccarat tea glasses, assorted sandwiches, scones, cakes and sweet pastries help to forget the hurly-burly of the Christmas season.

Winter Warmer Drinks in Sophia’s Bar
This winter, our bar team will warm guests up again with hot drinks and refined combinations of spices. The warming cocktails and home-made mulled wine taste best on the terrace with its wintry decorations, but can also be enjoyed in the bar or in the oriental Salon Marocain.
Christmas in Sophia’s Restaurant
With its glimmering fig trees and gold-tinted lighting, Sophia’s is perfectly set up for Christmas. Under the watchful eye of Culinary Director Michael Hüsken, the restaurant serves a delicious five-course menu on Christmas Eve which presents international dishes using locally-sourced ingredients such as veal and saddle of venison from the Gutshof Polting in Bavaria, finished off with creative wintry garnishes such as tea leaves, pointed cabbage, celery and ginger. Guests can eat à-la-carte on Christmas Day evening and Boxing Day evening and soak up the Christmassy atmosphere with family and friends.
On 24th December Sophia’s Christmas menu, including an aperitif, costs €155 per person.
New Year’s Eve in Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar
The kitchen of Sophia’s Restaurant smells particularly enticing on New Year’s Eve, because this is when a particularly celebratory menu is being prepared.
