ENJOY LONG WEEKENDS IN ITALY THIS
AUTUMN WITH ROCCO FORTE HOTELS

21/10/2020

Unique promo valid until 29 November to visit Rome and Florence

Rocco Forte Hotels, Italy has launched a new and extraordinary initiative by creating four-day city breaks to either Rome or Florence at never-before-seen rates and without minimum length of stay restrictions. With this special offer – valid from Thursdays to Mondays until 29 November 2020 – Hotel Savoy in Florence and Hotel de la Ville in Rome invite guests to visit two of the most dazzling cities in Italy in hopes of brightening upcoming autumnal weekends.

Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world meaning that long queues at well-known sights such as the Vatican MuseumsSistine Chapel and Colosseum are almost inevitable but fortunately there are fewer tourists after the summer rush and before the Christmas holidays begin. Autumn gives a good picture of daily life in Rome as the city is buzzing with locals – guests are encouraged to do as the Romans do and hop on a Vespa to explore its more hidden gems. Off the tourist trail, the Coppedè district is a corner of Rome with unexpected and bizarre details, a fantastic mixture of Art Nouveau and Art Decò, whereas Galleria Sciarra, an internal courtyard tucked behind the Trevi Fountain, features liberty-style frescoes. Rome is a feast for the eyes but also proof that perceptions may be fallible: Borromini’s forced perspective at Palazzo Spada, the dome of Sant’Ignazio Church and the keyhole of The Priory of the Knights of Malta are just some of the many examples of hidden optical illusions, created by the masters, and waiting to be discovered.

Florence is a popular choice for spring and summer holidays, but with autumn finally here guests may enjoy having places to themselves. Art lovers who decided to visit the Renaissance city to see the magnificent Uffizi Gallery may appreciate the place in virtual silence whilst marvelling at its artworks. Just a stone’s throw away is the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli. Hosting over 250 works by the award-winning Florentine director, including set designs, drawings, and costume sketches, this museum is often overlooked yet just as worthy of a visit. As the grape harvest is in full swing, wine is another very good reason to visit Tuscany at this time of the year. Hotel Savoy offers unique sensory wine tasting experiences led by young sommeliers and accompanied by Tuscan specialties. Otherwise, the hotel’s barmen organise mixology classes for those curious to learn about the story and recipe behind iconic local drinks such as the Negroni. To appreciate the changing of leaves, our Concierge may arrange bespoke day trips to the nearby Fattoria di Maiano in Fiesole, the Chianti region – including a stop-over at the Castello Sonnino – or to the Val D’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

For guests arriving from the UK, Rocco Forte Hotels has partnered with Blue Horizon which will arrange for self-test kits and produce a guaranteed certificate within 72 hours of travel. At Hotel de la Ville, testing is also available on arrival with results within 48 hours.

Faced with fewer crowds, mild temperatures, a number of cultural events and an array of delectable seasonal products, autumn is a truly glorious time of year in both Rome and Florence whilst staying at Rocco Forte Hotels, Italy. Because every cloud has a silver lining.
