HISTORY: The hotel building was constructed in 1912 by design of a trendy architect Feodor Lidval, and since then has become a part of the city history. During over a hundred years of its history, the hotel has housed a plethora of famous guests, and Astoria has always remained a centre of cultural and social life of St Petersburg. Since 1912, Hotel Astoria have lived with everyone else though bad times: the Bolshevik revolution of 1917, two world wars, Perestroika, collapse of the Soviet Union and formation of the new Russian economy.
Since 1997 Astoria has been under Rocco Forte Hotels management. 

Interior design of the rooms respectfully combines contemporary features with antiques, textiles are made of traditional Russian linen, and many rooms boast beautiful views to St Isaac’s Cathedral.

Presidential Suites are located on the main corner of the building, and command a panoramic view of the Mariinsky Palace, Statue of Nicholas I, St Isaac’s Square and Cathedral. The Tsar Suite is one of the most luxurious and prestigious suite in St Petersburg. Suite is located on the sixth floor of the hotel and offers amazing view onto St Isaac’s Square and Cathedral. This sumptuous Suite is individually designed by Olga Polizzi.

BAR: The Donovan Bar – Residing in one of London’s most iconic hotels, the Donovan Bar has long been known as one of the most intimate and sophisticated drinking dens in the city playing host to gatherings of the most glamorous faces of Mayfair’s elite fashion and art scene. Taking inspiration from the bar’s namesake and close friend of the Forte family, the iconic 1960’s photographer Sir Terence Donovan. The menu consists of 16 cocktails, carefully curated by world-renowned, master mixologist Salvatore Calabrese. Open to residents and non-residents between 11am and 1am Monday to Saturday and 12pm to midnight on Sunday.
The Donovan Bar seats 60 people.

CONFERENCES: Brown’s Hotel is home to six private dining and meeting rooms, which can accommodate up to 72 guests for a lunch or dinner or up to 120 people for a reception. Each room is named after a famous past guest who resided at Brown’s and all enjoy an abundance of natural daylight, high ceilings, beautiful antiques and air-conditioning.

Astoria Restaurant combines dishes of Russian and European cuisine; here you can find the best Siberian pelmeni and Olivier salad with crab and avocado, while decadent red-and-white interior with dramatic photographs featuring famous opera and ballet scenes by Mariinsky Theatre is perfect for long dinners with good wines from the restaurant collection. The heart of the hotel is Rotonda Lounge on the first floor, where guests can enjoy drinks served in famous cobalt cups by Imperial Porcelain Manufacture, and every day from 3 to 6 pm a sumptuous Afternoon Tea by Executive Pastry Chef Yulia Ivanova is served with a variety of homemade cakes, desserts, chocolates and pancakes. Here you can also try Just For You wellness menu, created by Marius Ackermann, Executive Chef of Hotel Astoria in collaboration with project nutritionists and Chefs of restaurant empire by the famous restaurateur Arkady Novikov.

Lichfield Bar is named after the famous British photographer Sir Patrick Lichfield and features and exhibition of his best works, including photos of Colin Farell, Evan McGregor, Mick Jagger wedding and a series of photos taken in Russian in 1980s. Bar menu boasts the largest collection of gins available in Russia.

CONFERENCES: Seven conference rooms, including ceremonial Ballroom and Winter Garden with a unique stained glass ceiling allow for events of any complexity for guests of highest level. And of course it is the best location for glamorous weddings, while hotel façade with its iconic red canopies becomes the elegant backdrop for beautiful wedding photos.

The Ballroom (260 sq.m.) is the perfect place for conferences as well as banquets and receptions. It combines elegant historic interior design with the opportunity to use the latest audio-visual technology and can accommodate up to 200 people.

The Winter Garden (170 sq.m.)  has an ornate glass ceiling that transmits the natural light and makes it an ideal venue for celebrations. It can host up to 150 guests for a cocktail party

The Ballroom and Winter Garden can be combined for grand receptions up to 350 guests. Banqueting Foyer adjacent to the Ballroom and Winter Garden is very convenient for welcome cocktails and guest registration.
