EXPERIENCE THE WORLD OF PICASSO AT BROWN’S HOTE

10/02/2020

‘Drawing is a kind of hypnotism: one looks in such a way at the model, that he comes and takes a seat on the paper’.  Pablo Picasso

Take advantage of Brown’s, a Rocco Forte Hotel’s prime position located on the doorstep of The Royal Academy of Arts (RA) and immerse yourself in Picasso’s world of paper.

Picasso & Paper at the Royal Academy of Arts is exhibiting now until 12 April 2020; and guests staying at Brown’s will receive prime access to the academy via a special VIP card, that admits two. These cards not only give free entry, but also allow guests to skip the queues and access to the entire RA, where other exhibitions can be visited as well.

Pablo Picasso tore it, burnt it, and made it three-dimensional – this exhibition brings together 300 of the artist’s work, both on and with paper spanning his entire prolific career and signifies a core chapter in contemporary art. Key highlights include Women at Their Toilette (1937-8), a 4.8-metre-wide collage – on display in the UK for the first time in more than 50 years. Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937) with sketchbook studies of this great masterpiece and documentary footage showcasing a glimpse of Picasso at work.

Guests can enjoy a late night viewing, followed by evening cocktails at the chic Donovan Bar. The ‘Picasso Sour’, has been created especially for the exhibition by maestro Salvatore Calabrese – a refreshing drink comprising a blend of citrus, floral & fresh notes including Salvatore’s new Acqua Bianca liqueur.

RA VIP cards admits two and can be arranged by the concierge at Brown’s. They allow all day access to the RA from 10am to 6pm and the late night opening every Friday until 10pm. In addition to these cards, guests at Brown’s can also participate in a ‘Behind the Scenes Tour’ of up to 15 guests to visit the RA’s library and archive.
